We love this architect-designed home, furnished with luxury BoConcept furniture. Relax with your family and friends on the huge sofa, then whip up a full Scottish breakfast in the stylish kitchen. It’s not often we mention an extractor fan, but the one here is quite funky. There’s a homely vibe with the mix of art and plants too. On warm summer days, unwind in the enclosed garden and have a picnic on the grass.

Or head out to explore the delights of Edinburgh, while the Queen’s official Scottish residence, the Palace of Holyroodhouse, is just a ten-minute amble. The Royal Mile and Scottish Parliament are both a fifteen-minute saunter away. Or take the family to Dynamic Earth, a state-of-the-art attraction that tells the story of the planet Earth, a seventeen-minute walk. Another visitor favourite, Edinburgh Castle, is just over thirty minutes on foot (twelve minutes in the car).

This apartment is all about the location for us. Set in the New Town of Edinburgh, many of the city’s key attractions are within walking distance, making it a perfect base for those keen to drop off their bags and head out to explore. Ideally suited to a couple, this fuss-free home has everything needed for a comfortable stay and eateries and shops on its doorstep. Just bear in mind that there’s no lift here, so you’ll need to be able to navigate some stairs to reach this lower ground-floor level home. 

Central Haven

Nestled close to Edinburgh's city centre, this cosy apartment welcomes travellers and their furry friends. It's worth noting that there are three flights of steps up to this home's entrance and no lift, but it's suited to families and friends alike. The fireplaces make the living room and main bedroom extra comfortable, and the main bedroom enjoys its own en-suite bathroom. The location is the highlight here – you'll be well-placed to explore the city, with just minutes between you and Princes Street Gardens and Edinburgh Castle. Shops and restaurants are within easy reach, and while parking will be tricky, you won't need a car here.

Quaint Quarters

It's especially perfect for families with younger children – the fourth bedroom features a bunk bed, while the enclosed garden is a great space for kids to play. 

Stepping inside, you'll find original features mixed with contemporary design for that added modern comfort – from the ornate fireplace to the sleek chef's kitchen, screened dining area and freestanding bathtub. The living room benefits from high ceilings and a bay window that bathes the space in natural sunlight, so you can kick back and relax after a day of sightseeing. 

When it's time to head out, it's well worth exploring the local area in sought-after Morningside. The high street offers a sprinkling of lovely cafes, indie shops, trendy boutiques and excellent eateries, while Blackford Hill, boasting picturesque views over the city, is just an eleven-minute walk from your door. Hop on a bus for adventures further afield – Edinburgh Castle is about a thirty-minute ride away.

Meadows of Morningside

Glowing Ember is something of an unexpected treat. The square outside is lovely, but even so, the flat itself is a surprise. There’s a sense of drama all around, much of which comes from the contrast between antiques and modern furniture, as well as the setting over two levels. The conservatory at the back stands out a bit, as the design is different, but while it’s a bit simpler, that’s exactly what you want in summer, when you can throw the doors open and lounge around in the sun.

Milk Heather

If you're a couple, solo traveller or business professional looking to be within walking distance of the majority of Edinburgh's main attractions, then this chic studio is perfect. George Street and Princes Street are a one-minute stroll away, while Edinburgh International Conference Centre is just a three-minute saunter, and the University of Edinburgh, the Old Town and the Royal Mile are all under a twenty-five-minute walk. Everyone knows Calton Hill. You know the one – splashed across Instagram and guide book covers, it's the poster child for Edinburgh's UNESCO-recognised city centre. This two-bed apartment sits at the foot of said famous hill, so you'll get the jump on the legions of tour groups, even catch the sunrise if you wish. Calton Hill not high enough for you? The leg-stretching trail to the top of Arthur’s Seat is a short walk away too with equally Insta-worthy views from the top. Gorgeous inside and out, you've got two outdoor spaces to choose from. Sip wine or a nip of something stronger on the sunken patio, and serve your Burns supper on the bistro table in the walled garden. Two luxurious bathrooms come with a rainfall shower and a deep soaking tub, respectively.
